I've adjusted to my new work environment, sleep area, and overall routine. Days are meshing into each other and it's a good thing! I know the days I need to pick up my laundry and when I have church. After that, all other activities mesh together into the daily grind. I've found my church going group, my lunch going group, my dinner going group, my movie file sharers and my workout group. People here are all in the same boat, working about the same pace which isn't as hard as I originally thought. During my daily routine I spend time getting my work done and I break it up with music, conversing with neighbors, and an occasional movie at the end of the slow day. This really helps to keep my mind off of what's going on at home and before you know it, its time to go to bed. If you look at the picture of my bedroom or bunk covered with blankets its a really peaceful and dark sanctuary.
Our office is a melting pot of people. There are 2 very sweet girls from Kyrgyzstan, 2 older guys from South Carolina, a young Russian girl from South Carolina, 2 older guys I know from the Irvine office, 5 (4 males 1 female ) from Kosovo who speak/yell at each other during the day in their language. Hilarious. I randomly yell "Why are we yelling!???" or "Loud Noises" (from Anchorman). The guys from South Carolina have an interesting accent as well. One guy is the story teller and will talk your ear off it you let him. I enjoy the stories, the first time. Ha. He finds himself saying "what it is, is " or "what it was, was". It's really funny. If he says it now, we all bust up laughing. He'll also mesh some words together "Geeteat yet?" in translation is "Did you Eat Yet?".
The work environment is laid back. No one gets on anyone's case. I think it's because there is a general understanding that we are all taken away from our friends and family. It's hard. You can be a jerk to people and get them down which will not make you any friends. Friendship is the most important thing. Our bosses are like Michael Scott, friends, not dictators. Don't get me wrong, we do not all get along fantastically and there has been some drama. This office drama is entertaining but it can come at someone's expense. The battle is how to handle it.
GOD has been my rock. I've spent more and more time with Him, thanking Him for the things I have waiting at home. The churches here are well organized and worship is way better than I expected. Military/Civilian alike come together to worship and praise. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. It's really helped this experience for Jess and I. I've joined a bible study which teaches 7 principles of a successful marriage. I'll let you know how it turns out. It'll probably make me miss Jess even more. Speaking of Jess, she has blessed me with a picture book of all our trips, weddings, friends and family. It was sweet and sour at the same time. I DID get very motivated from receiving the gift package. I'm motivated to keep letting the days go by and always staying positive. No air raid or person can get me down!
Basically, we are all spoiled out of our minds. Taking it all away can prove it. I would know!!!
Love you all!!!
